Procédons en remontant le temps :
Ce collectionneur possédait à la fin 9 tableaux.
- Il en a donné 3 ce qui fait 12. Il en a vendu 1/3. C'est donc que les 12 restants correspondent au 2/3. Donc :
12 x 3/2 = 18
- A la 3ème transaction cela donne :
(18 + 4) x 3/2 = 33
- A la 2ème transaction :
(33 + 3) x 3/2 = 54
- A la 1ère transaction :
(54 + 4) x 3/2 = 87
Il possédait donc au départ 87 tableaux
